An alternative to JouwWeb
JouwWeb is a good first step: fast, affordable and in Dutch. As things get more serious, you notice the site doesn't grow along with what the business has become.

€5
hosting per month, maintenance optional
Indicative prices from JouwWeb (Dutch website builder with a subscription), checked on 31 August 2026. Promotional rate the first year, then the regular monthly rate per package. Amounts as publicly listed by JouwWeb. Always check current rates at jouwweb.nl/tarieven.
What JouwWeb does well
No platform is bad. JouwWeb has delivered a lot for freelancers who started with JouwWeb and want to grow further, and that deserves to be said.
- Very accessible, even with zero experience
- Dutch-language support
- Low entry cost
- Fine for a simple presence
It stays basic
It's fine for a digital business card. For a site that needs to bring in leads, you're missing structure, speed and persuasive power.
Little room for your own brand
The blocks are limited, so sites quickly start looking alike. That's exactly what you don't want in a competitive market.
Limited control over SEO
The basics are there, but you can only steer structure, speed and schema to a certain degree.
The promotional rate runs out
What's cheap in year one simply becomes a fixed, recurring cost afterwards.
A site that is yours
Built from scratch, in code, with no platform in between. That's not ideology, it's simply cheaper in the long run and faster to use.
You own it
Code, domain and hosting are in your name. Want to move to another provider tomorrow? You just take everything with you.
Copy that's actually yours
No filled-in template sentences. I write the copy based on how you'd explain it to a client, using the words people actually search for.
Fast, even on a mediocre connection
No layer upon layer of scripts. What's there is there because it's needed. You'll notice it in load time and in your Core Web Vitals.
No subscription that keeps running
Hosting here costs five euros a month. Maintenance is optional. You pay for the build once, not every year again.
What it costs to switch
Coming from JouwWeb? Then 33% comes off the indicative price. Reason: your existing structure, copy and imagery give me a flying start.

Switching from JouwWeb
Can I keep my domain?
Yes. The domain stays yours and simply points to the new site. Visitors won't notice the switch at all.
Isn't this a lot more expensive?
More upfront, less ongoing. You pay for the build once, then just hosting from five euros a month.
Can I still make changes myself?
Yes, via the CMS included in the website package. For a onepager I usually handle small changes myself, that's faster.
Do you also work with Dutch clients?
Yes, I work for clients in Belgium and the Netherlands, in Dutch and English.
More general questions are in the FAQ.
Coming from something else?
The same story applies to most platforms. Pick what you use now.
