The challenge
Developing a fully functioning browser-based mafia RPG with real cash prizes, where players compete for months to reach the top. The game had to include a wide range of features: crimes, heists, families, weapon trading, drug labs, casinos, crypto trading, and a robust prize system. On top of that, a premium monetisation model, real-time chat, and an extensive admin panel were required, all within a responsive design that works on both desktop and mobile.
The approach
We chose a modern JAMstack architecture with React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS and Vite for a fast, scalable frontend. The backend runs entirely on Supabase (PostgreSQL + Edge Functions) with Row Level Security for maximum data safety. Key technical choices: a modular component library with 50+ reusable UI components, real-time functionality for chat, notifications and live leaderboards, Stripe integration for premium subscriptions and credit purchases, an automated prize system with seasonal rounds and automatic payouts, dark-mode-first design with a cinematic gangster aesthetic.
The result
A fully operational multiplayer game with 15+ unique gameplay systems (crimes, heists, families, properties, casino, etc.), seasonal competition with a €180+ prize pool per round, premium monetisation with happy hours and a growing community pot, an admin dashboard for full game control and user management, sub-second load times and 99%+ uptime.
